In August of 2011 I was presented with an amazing opportunity. Possible Productions reached out to me regarding an upcoming project with Bionic League: Deadmau5′s 2011/2012 tour: Meowingtons Hax.

The images in this post were generated by a real-time particle simulation of 5000 charged particles interacting with magnetic fields. This fundamental theory/law is used to derive their motion is based on the Lorentz Law in Fields and Waves. In physics Lorentz Force defines how a charged particle (point charge) is affected by an electromagnetic field.

3D Field Flow is an exploration of invisible space, fluid flow, thermodynamics and dynamical systems. Empty space surrounds us, however is this space really empty? The space around us is governed by the rules of thermodynamics and physics and shows some interesting behavior when simulated and visualized in 3D.

“EMERGENT” was created using a particle system that was given basic rules of behavior, this is very similar to swarm algorithms using in architecture to create 3D forms.

This is an audio-reactive algorithmic visual art piece that uses the concept of charged particles and flocking to simulate a organism that is alive and composed of micro-organisms. The movement is rather pleasing thus I decided to exhibit the algorithm in a rather catchy video art fashion. Enjoy.
